Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I live in a HOME property?

A: To qualify to live in one of our homes an applicant/resident must have been diagnosed with a developmental disability.  A developmental disability is a condition diagnosed prior to the age of 22, is life-long, and includes autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy, intellectual disability, and conditions similar.

In addition, in order to be eligible for our housing an applicant must meet requirements as per the project tenant selection plan.

Q: How much is the rent?

A: Rents are calculated to be 30% of a person's total income.  Rents are recalculated each year and/or when there are significant changes in income.  For example, if a person's total monthly income is $1000 then his/her rent would be approximately $300.

Q: What types of living arrangements are offered?

A: Most of our housing is shared housing which means that everyone has their own bedroom but shares the rest of the house with a house-mate.  Depending on the particular house, apartment, or condo residents may or may not have their own bathroom but will share common living spaces and the kitchen.

Q: Are there certain rules I have to follow?

A: Yes, our housing does come with rules including respecting your housemate's personal space and rights.

Q: How do I sign up?

A: To sign up, talk with your regional center counselor and she or he can provide you with the correct forms and information.
